Wedding Vocabulary: The Basics
bride: woman getting married - menyasszony
groom: man getting married - vőlegény
best man: groom’s best friend or closest family member (witness to the marriage) - tanú (férfi)
maid of honour: bride’s best friend or closest family member (witness to the marriage) - tanú (nő)
groomsmen: other male friends or family members who stand up with the groom - kísérők
bridesmaids: other female friends or family members who stand up with the bride - koszorúslányok
What to say to the bride and/or groom after the wedding
- Congratulations! - Gratulálok!
- You look stunning. (very beautiful) - Csodálatosan nézel ki. (nő)
- You look handsome. (very good looking; say to males) - Nagyon jó nézel ki. (férfi)
- Your dress is gorgeous. - Gyönyörű a ruhád!
